on November 15 at a fundraising and educational event co-sponsored by
NWMMS and
Montessori Institute Northwest (MINW).
Damon,
a widely respected
educational psychologist, is the author of numerous books including
Greater
Expectations: Overcoming the
Culture of
Indulgence in Our Homes and Schools and The Moral Child: Nurturing
Children’s
Natural Moral Growth. His academic career has focused on education and
moral
development. Damon’s
current research
and work at Stanford is designed “to
promote the character and competence of
all young people growing up in today’s world”.
Damon’s
work offers scientific support for the role of
community in moral and character development during the critical period
of
early adolescence, and he is excited to be partnering with our
program.
His
presentation should be of interest to
Montessorians, all types of educators, parents, and anyone interested
in human
development.
