Challenge
Grant Nearly Met
In
May
of this year, NWMMS
received an unprecedented offer of support from the Montessori
Institute Northwest
(MINW): a $10,000 challenge grant matching contributions made through
November
15. We are pleased
to announce that we
are already just a few donations from meeting that challenge, having
raised
$8,625 in cash with pledges for $2,000 more.
This
represents contributions at every level, with 11 donors giving
$500 or more, and includes support from the North American
Montessori Teachers
Association (NAMTA), a national organization supporting Montessori
education
and working at the forefront of Montessori adolescent program
development.
Other
forms of support have been
helpful as well. We’ve had offers of legal help,
architectural and design
work, carpentry, furniture, kitchen equipment, and even the beginnings
of a costume
box. Getting a
project such as this
started takes a lot of work in many areas, and anything we can get
donated
frees up resources for other aspects of the program. It’s a great way
for people to get
involved
even when a cash contribution just isn’t possible.
NWMMS
extends a
heartfelt thank
you to all who have given. Our
fundraising goals continue, of course, and we still need your
support. For
